An AACD Accredited Doctor

Dental patients seeking a cosmetic dentist in Southern Maryland may wonder, what does AACD Accreditation or Fellowship mean? Simply put, a higher standard of care and quality.

The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) is the largest international dental organization dedicated specifically to the art and science of cosmetic dentistry.

The AACD has more than 8,000 general members in more than 50 countries worldwide. Not only are dentists members of the Academy – professionals such as dental laboratory technicians, dental hygienists, dental assistants, dental educators, researchers and students are included. General members can achieve the status of Accreditation and Fellowship through display of superior skill in the field of cosmetic dentistry.

A Fellow of the AACD has:

  • Extraordinary dental experience
  • A record of exemplary dental cases
  • The latest continuing education on dental techniques

The AACD offers the only higher-education credentialing program in cosmetic dentistry. The program allows members of the AACD to undergo a stringent process of clinical examinations and oral presentations designed to help participants in the field of cosmetic dentistry.

There are approximately 350 Accredited and 45 Fellow dentists worldwide. Dr. Olson received his Accreditation in 1998 and his Fellowship in 2005. He served as the 10th Accreditation Chairman in the history of the organization in 2004 and 2005 and is also an examiner for future applicants seeking to become an Accredited Member.
