In-office Bleaching for a Jump start

In office bleaching by a dentist will give you fast, visibly whiter results in less than an hour. After making sure your teeth and gums are protected, expert cosmetic dentist Dr. Olson will apply the ZOOM bleaching gel to the stained surfaces of your teeth. The power of this gel is compounded by the special ZOOM light. This jump start process will lighten your teeth dramatically and prepare you for the 2nd part of this two-fold process. We will give you an at-home follow-up kit that you can use to easily finish up the process.

It usually takes a few weeks to see the full effects of this two-part whitening process but our patients have routinely achieved 8 to 10 shades whiter.

At-Home Whitening for a More Gradual Effect

For those who feel no need to get a jump start we have an at-home whitening technique. For this, the dentist take impressions or molds of the teeth and photographs to create custom made whitening trays. On your next visit, within 24-48 hours, you will receive the trays that have been fabricated for you by our lab. The advantage of a bleaching tray is its intimate fit. Bleaching success is based on contact time of the bleach solution with your natural tooth structure. So the better the trays fits, the better the resultant whitening!

What about Tooth Sensitivity?

People are all different, with different levels of tooth sensitivity. There are various products that can assist those who may experience some discomfort with tooth sensitivity that results from bleaching. Our At-Home whitening kits can have fluoride treatments added that will help lessen any tooth sensitivity.

For our patients who we know in advance may have issues with tooth sensitivity, caring dentist Dr. Olson will precede your whitening procedure with fluoride treatments. There are also specialty toothpastes available (previdents) that can help reduce the discomfort caused by sensitivity for the few days following a procedure.
